SAP for Extensions

Building Regulations

If you are planning to carry out an extension on your existing property, you will need to carry out SAP calculations to get planning permission.

The extension will need to adhere to Part L1B building regulations. A key point to note in the building regs is that the new areas of glazing should account for no more than 25% of new floor area.

How we help

Having years of experience carrying out SAP calculations for extensions, we can make sure your design gets planning permission with little or no change to your original proposed extension design.

To carry out these calculations we would require:

  • Your existing site plans and your proposed extension site plans
  • Proposed construction and building service details.

The notional v. compliant SAP calculation is a desk top exercise, removing the need for a site visit. We can also get in touch with your Building Control Officer or Planners, and guide you through any particular local requirements
