2 London Road was in planning phase to get permission to transform the top three storeys from being a mixed-use building to a residential one. The proposed building is three storeys of flats above the ground floor. The ground floor is designated for commercial use.
In order to proceed with the project, the client required planning permission, and SEES provided assistance by conducting an internal daylight assessment for the proposed building. By implementing various strategies such as replacing the existing glazing with new windows that have high transmittance values, altering the window frame design to eliminate dividers, and incorporating rooflights in the top floor apartments, we successfully improved the internal daylight levels to around 70% compared to the current conditions.
